Network
Network ensures that every member of the OSU community can connect, communicate, and collaborate with ease. By designing, maintaining, and continually improving our core network infrastructure, we bridge operational needs and strategic goals—helping the university stay accessible, resilient, and future-focused.
What We Do
Network is comitted to building a dynamic, flexible connectivity environment that empowers everyone at OSU.
We develop and maintain the core infrastructure—routers, switches, wireless access points, and cabling—that brings the internet into classrooms, labs, offices, and residence halls. Whether it’s improving Wi-Fi coverage or ensuring secure access through VPN, we make sure our community can connect without barriers. Our teams anticipate changing needs, adopting cutting-edge solutions, and continuously refining OSU’s network to meet the demands of tomorrow.
Who We Are
We are a collaborative group of engineers, technicians, and service professionals passionate about keeping OSU connected. Driven by innovation, expertise, and a commitment to inclusivity, we partner with the broader OSU community to deliver reliable network and communication services that support every aspect of campus life. Together, we support OSU’s growth and evolution, ensuring that wherever knowledge travels, a strong, reliable network is there to guide it.
The Network Operations and Engineering team designs and manages the core network equipment including routers, switches, firewalls, encrypted tunnels (VPN) and remote site connectivity. They support all aspects of the OSU Wireless network. The team also provides up/down monitoring, network and system performance monitoring, and utilization graphing.
The team manages OSU's IP allocation, including IPv4 and IPv6. They provide tier 2 and tier 3 support to departmental IT staff at OSU.
IT Pros can contact Network Operations directly. For all others, please contact the Service Desk.
The Plant Infrastructure team is responsible for the network cabling infrastructure of the OSU network. This team leads the design and installation of the copper and fiber-optic cabling that make the network function. Material Standards are set to provide the best possible service to the OSU community.
This team provides annual updates to the OSU Campus Wiring Standard (Division 27 Master Specification).
